Using Your Noodle

The Highway Traffic Act dictates that drivers must leave one metre of room when passing cyclists. Anyone who cycles in Toronto knows that this almost never happens. Toronto cyclist, Warren Huska, has a unique way to ensure that drivers give him the legislatively mandated one-metre cushion; he has installed a pool noodle that extends horizontally one metre from the rear of his bike.

Warren Huska is a long-time cycle-commuter. His pool noodle technique is one of the more creative methods I have seen to improve his safety while cycling. Do you have other ideas to improve cycling safety? If so, post them here and you will have chance to win a $50 gift card to Gears Bike Shop.
